Connecticut, Chicago, and New York... You're all safe. We're here to warn you about the saddest attempt at staying relevant in the 'best regional pizza' debate that we've ever seen. That title is currently being held by the state of Rhode Island and their pizza strips.
I tend to stay out of the great pizza debates, but every once in a while you'll see online discourse that you just have to insert yourself into. Here's the tweet that started it all.

Yes, this actually exists.
The food pictured goes by a few aliases including Red Bread, Tomato Bread, Bakery Pizza, and Party Pizza. According to TasteAtlas, the Rhode Island delicacy comes not from pizza parlors, but from local bakeries. The "pizza" is baked in large trays creating a thick crust. Somewhat like focaccia, there are no toppings or cheese, only tomato sauce, and "Served at room temperature."
it looks like ghandi's flip flop

I’ve heard of it but have not had it and based on this picture will not be rushing to do so either

I too had to take a picture of this monstrosity. Mine came in its own plastic bag. pic.twitter.com/Huswg7kked

That looks like someone glued a strawberry fruit roll up to a UPS shipping envelope.

This is literally just an elementary school cafeteria pizza

Wait this isn't a slab of flesh peeled from a still living body?

The people have spoken. We all know the best pizza comes from the mafia-run parlors of NYC. Kindly take a seat, Rhode Island.
