Though Emma McGuinness may have headed to Walt Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon water park for a day of fun in the sun, she found herself in “A Whole New World” of pain after suffering an “injurious wedgie” that caused severe bleeding and organ damage.


In a new lawsuit filed against the Orlando theme park on Wednesday, McGuinness and her husband are seeking roughly $50,000 in damages from Walt Disney World, alleging that a trip down the 214-foot Humunga Kowabunga waterslide in October 2019 ended in “severe and permanent bodily injury.”



"The impact of The Slide and [Emma's] impact into the standing water at the bottom of The Slide caused Ms. McGuinness' clothing to be painfully forced between her legs and for water to be violently forced inside her," the complaint read, noting that McGuinness “experienced immediate and severe pain internally and, as she stood up, blood began rushing from between her legs.”


She was ultimately brought to the hospital via ambulance to receive treatment for her wounds, which included "severe vaginal lacerations, a full thickness laceration causing [her] bowel to protrude through her abdominal wall, and damage to her internal organs."


Though McGuinness said she was aware of the risks before heading down the slide, Alan Wagner, the attorney who wrote the suit, alleged that Disney was likely aware that there were more dangers than those advertised.



Though the theme park has — unsurprisingly — remained as quiet as a mouse on the topic, can you blame them? You either die a beloved animation company or die a massive conglomerate on the other side of a McDonald’s Coffee-esque lawsuit.
