Nowadays kids are largely considered unique and irreplaceable. Many parents care deeply about their children and try to make sure their lives are comfortable and safe. But back in the 20th century, kids were a dime a dozen. Parents knew that if their child was eaten by a grizzly bear, another one would pop up to fill its place before too long.
