As that man told me, for most people, it just doesn’t make sense to fake your own death anymore. There are too many loose ends to tie up, too many questions that need to be answered, for the idea to have any practical application in the real world.

Well, this Australian woman went and tried to do it anyway — and now, she’s facing the consequences.

A woman named Karen Salkilld faked her own death for a $700k insurance payment, then basically didn’t change her life in any meaningful way. She continued working as a fitness instructor, hanging out with friends and more, with all parties likely wholly unaware that they were spending time with a dead woman.

Of course, she was eventually found out, leading to this series of incredible interactions.
